First weeks and swimming

Swimming sessions run for eight sessions so please remember to bring your bathing suit and towel to school each day. Also remember to take them home as it's not much fun putting on wet togs the next day.

We started the term with 35 degrees plus days...and as soon as swimming starts we have rain and temperatures in the teens! School photos have been and gone so hopefully the proofs will be sent out soon.
In class we have been looking at 'connections' in many different contexts.
Initially we looked at the many ways we connect with each other- interviewing each other to find similarities and differences. As part of writing we have been looking at our reaction to different 'I'd rather ..' statements such as:
  • Would you rather be born with elephant ears or a giraffe neck?
  • Would you rather have no teeth or no hair?
  • Would you rather have a bucket stuck on your head or a bucket stuck on your foot?

Some of the replies have been very creative, lateral and imaginative!
We have also used the exercise to set some writing goals. One of them is to vary our connectives and add information to statements, thus varying sentence structures too.
